1. Bavette’s Bar & Boeuf

If you are searching for jazz-era romance, Brendan Sodikoff’s steakhouse is exactly the place you need. Leather booths and a zinc-topped bar are parts of its nice atmosphere.
The food and drinks here won’t leave you disappointed. Try the rib-eye, bone-in filet, and the Chicago-born shrimp de jonghe – they are quite costly but definitely worth it. As a dessert take a slice of carrot cake or chocolate cream pie. Among the bar favorites, we recommend Bourbon, craft beers, and amazing cocktails that are served here.
2. Majorelle

An elegant Majorelle is located in a place that used to be a post house before. The interior is decorated with greenery and flowers that make up a lovely and quiet atmosphere. As for food, you can be sure to find fine French dishes with Mediterranean influences. Ask the sommelier for recommendations. They have a great choice of French wines, some of which are very hard to find.
3. Saddle Peak Lodge

This restaurant has a story to tell. The old building used to be a Pony Express Lodge, a hunting lodge, and a bordello before becoming the Saddle Peak Lodge we know today. The dining room with a rustic fireplace and the bar is decorated with vintage guns and fishing rods. The interior can even boast about a small waterfall on the terrace, cacti, and other plants.
Among our picks from the menu, there is pork belly with Vietnamese flavors, the Chef’s Game Trio, and a huckleberry bread pudding.
4. State of Grace

Chef Ford Fry went back to his birthplace, met a local chef Bobby Matos, and together they created a masterpiece combining the spirit of old-time Houston restaurants with the vibes of modern raw bars. The best seats are located at the chef’s counter in the kitchen and just close to the big bay window. We recommend you begin the evening with hushpuppies and cold oysters. Then you can proceed with twice-fried Korean chicken, burgers, or pasta. Don’t forget to try our special pick – sticky toffee pudding with malt ice cream and Texas-made liquors.
5. The Willows Inn

If you want to taste a bit of Scandinavian style, go to the Willows Inn. The dining room is quite simple but elegant.
The food is full of inventive combinations and new unanticipated textures. To try something really special, order the “herb tostada,” which is a colorful bouquet of edible plants found around the island. And don’t forget to check strawberries with wild chamomile cream and anise hyssop ice cream and lavender – you will never forget this date, we promise.
